Genetic diversity is the total number of genetic characteristics in the genetic makeup of a species. Genetic diversity serves as a way for populations to adapt to changing environments. It refers to both the vast numbers of different species as well as the diversity within a species. The greater the genetic diversity within a species, the greater are that species' chances of long-term survival.
The genes in Animals, Plants and Humans are forming who we are and what we can do. If our circumstances change, so does our genetic makeup, it's simply forced to adapt.
How does genetics affect who you are? Take a look at your family, what are the similarities you share?
"Family: Like branches on a tree, we grow in different directions, but our roots remain the same."
Who do you look like in your family, is it someone close to you or someone from a long, long time ago? Even if you are the only one in your family, create a project and show us who YOU are!
Send us your work! We'd love to upload it on our website for everyone to see.
