Why are they SO important?

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN/SDGs) are a set of target relating to future international development. They are created by the United Nations and promoted as the Global Goals for Sustainable Development.

The SDG's replaced the Millennium Development Goals that expired at the end of 2015.                 They run from 2015 to 2030 to 2050.
The SDGs set out to achieve three key things;
1. End Extreme Poverty.
2. Fight Inequality and Injustice.
​3. Fix Climate Change.

In 2015, 17 main global issues were determined and "named" by the United Nations and 193 participating countries, to help us all take action and work towards making our world a better place for everyone. The SDG's address the global challenges the world faces including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental destruction, disruption of peace and lack of justice. The world is changing fast and these goals are set to be achieved by 2030 and 2050.
Sustainable Development is the idea that human societies
must live and meet their needs without compromising
​the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
It has three main pillars:

Ahimbisibwe Raban and his colleagues are raising 28 desolate children in Uganda, who were literally dropped of at their doorstep. As an orphan himself, Ahimbisibwe feels he has no choice but to try his best to give them a more secure existence than he had.
